The 3 days tour of the Mekong delta started in Saigon, Vietnam and ended in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We were moving by buses, large boats, medium boats, small boats, and very small boats through the different streams of the delta, visiting the towns, villages, hamlets, Buddhist temples, etc.
From Phnom Penh I went to Modulkiri -- the remote and sparcely populated Cambodian province. In order to see a waterfall (about 30 km from the "capital" village of Sen Monorom) I hired an elephant who took me through the tropical forests, scbubs, savannahs, fording several rivers.. Unfortunately the Cambodian elephants are not well equipped for carrying an amputee -- so my bones are still aching from this full day rather uncomfortable ride.
Eventually I ended up in Angkor and spent 5 days there mesmerized by the ruins in the jungle. I felt that, if stayed longer, I would myself turn into a statue strangled by lianas and next Indiana Jones would dig treasures from under me.
So I left Angkor and reappeared at the sea resort of Sihanoulville/former Kampong Som. Tomorrow I am moving to Thailand, possibly stopping at another resort before reaching Bangkok.
You are perhaps bored with this account of my uneventful life -- so next time I will try to include some actions with adrenalin pumping activities.
Cheers, Leo
